Hephaestion was one of the closest friends of Alexander. The had been fellow students under Aristotle at mieza. They were always together in all the great battles that Alexander waged on the whole world. Alexander trusted him greatly and would consult with him before any great decision. We must remember that Alexander took many great decisions in his time.

There has however been talk of them sharing more than a mere friendship.

Parallels have been drawn up with Achilles and Patroclus and the relationship they said to have shared.
